Bailey Burroughs is the co-owner and manager of Hypeherbally, a heritage medical Cannabis company that launched into the recreational market in January. She blends a passion for medical Cannabis with a flair for customer service, working alongside a strong group of female employees to bring a unique vibe to a store that delivers more than just Cannabis. Punny and with a distinct speakeasy vibe, Hypeherbally is a great stop for pot and education in Lynnwood.
HOW DID CANNABIS COME INTO YOUR LIFE?
I became involved with Cannabis when I turned 18. That’s when I saw the healing properties from it. I remember being friends with an older lady whose husband owned a pharmacy, and she had terrible hip pain, so he would bring home anything under the moon pharmaceutically. But nothing worked for her and she always wanted Cannabis! That’s when I realized it wasn’t just about getting high, but something that was medicinal and spiritual.
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY?
Through Justin Ruiz, who was my resource of getting weed when I was younger. We formed a bond where we worked together and ended up starting a relationship years before medical Cannabis got started. I watched him open up the first Hypeherbally in 2012, and I was managing coffee stands and decided to step away from that to help run Hype and take it to a whole new level – and to put my touch on it.
WHAT IS HYPEHERBALLY KNOWN FOR AS A DISPENSARY?
We are definitely known for our knowledge and our customer service, and having powerful females running the shop. We come from a time when the dispensaries were first opening and female budtenders really weren’t a thing. People don’t overstep us at all; we are equal budtenders as women and I feel like a lot of the patients and customers feel more comfortable when they are talking to a more feminine vibe. I also feel that women can be a little more detail oriented on certain things, and small details in a shop make the bigger picture what it is.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR WOMEN THINKING ABOUT WORKING IN WEED?
I say do it if you are passionate about Cannabis. There’s nothing more rewarding than working a job where you feel like you’re helping people and talking about what you love.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS WITH HYPEHERBALLY?
Our goals are to get it back to where we were in medical, to be having fun again in the industry. Transitioning from medical to 502 almost took all the fun out of the industry for a second there, and I’m excited to start enjoying it again and having fun.
FAVORITE CANNABIS STRAIN AND WAY TO CONSUME?
My favorite way of consuming Cannabis would definitely be smoking flower. I also like to dab and use vape cartridges, especially live resin ones. I honestly just like the flavor of weed, so as long as it’s flavorful, I’m probably going to go for it. My favorite strain is a hard one to say, but I definitely like the diesel and gassy and kushy flavors. Sour Diesel has always been my favorite and in the last two years I’ve really liked GMO. But hands down my favorite strain of 2019 is Butterscotch Wedding Cake from Fire Bros, that is totally my thing right now.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING IN YOUR FREE TIME?
It might sound pathetic but I love hanging out with my cats. I have three and am completely obsessed with them, and I wish they could always be by my side. I do have one that goes out with me on adventures. I’m a homebody with the cats and love to do yoga – that’s me in a nutshell. I’m kind of a crazy cat lady!
